Ocean Lakes Re-Opened at Noon, Sunday, after Hurricane Florence

Ocean Lakes Re-Opened at Noon

Sunday, Sept. 16, 2018 – Ocean Lakes Family Campground is now open. The Main Office is open until 6 PM for camping guests and camper storage guests to check their camper (we are not pulling storage campers). Once the property was assessed for damage and the utilities (water, power, sewer) were confirmed, management agreed to open the campground for homeowners immediately, and other guests at Noon. Ocean Lakes will open full operations Monday, Sept. 17 at 8 AM. This includes Ocean Lakes Properties rentals and sales, Ocean Lakes Golf Cars, Camper Storage & Transporation, and most amenities opening, as they can, on Monday. The pools may take a few days safely to re-open. As of Sunday afternoon, online Reservations were unavailable.

Ocean Lakes continued to communicate with guests during Hurricane Florence with information updates, photos and video. The team uses social media, OceanLakes.com’s special “Storm Info” page, email blasts, smart phone app push notifications, blogs and more. Many guests and homeowners were grateful for the contant communications and updates.

Security was on site through the storm and were able to report any issues throughout Hurricane Florence. The campground sustained very minimal damage, mostly just debris to clean up. Lake levels did not crest the banks as all outfalls remained clear. Horry County Public Works, Santee Cooper, and Grand Strand Water & Sewer have been here and confirmed that all utilities are good. The campgrond facilities, 2,566 annual lease sites, and campers and golf cars in storage appeared to weather the storm well. One pine tree fell across the road on Neptune, catching the edge of a homeowner’s porch. Some storage golf cars lost their covers due to wind. Ocean Lakes teammates continue to contact any guest impacted by the storm.

Ocean Lakes’ phone lines will be extremely busy as we resume operations the next two days and they are asking guests to refrain from calling to check on damage reports. If a site or storage camper is damaged, our team will contact as soon as possible. Ocean Lakes is working to assist guests with cancellations and refunds due to Florence.

Ocean Lakes is  cautioning guests because there is debris both in the park and on the roads. Road Conditions are constantly changing due to flooding. PLEASE make sure to use caution. We recommend checking state websites for road updates:

Or recommend downloading the free WAZE app that includes driver reported road conditions.
