Band Bios
Rhonda Vincent:
Rhonda Vincent is a firecracker of talent that powers one of the hottest bands in any genre of music today. From humble beginnings in the tiny town of Greentop, Missouri, Rhonda’s musical heritage traces back 5 generations of the Vincent family.
Her pivotal bluegrass album “Back Home Again” transformed Rhonda Vincent into the All-American Bluegrass Girl and crowned the New Queen of Bluegrass by “The Wall Street Journal” in 2000. She is a multi-award winner with a 2017 Grammy for “Best Bluegrass Album,” an “Entertainer of the Year” in 2001, “Song of the Year” in 2004, and an unprecedented 7 consecutive “Female Vocalist of the Year” awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association 2000 – 2006 and an 8th win of IBMA “Female Vocalist of the Year” in 2015. Her powerful vocal style transcends the boundaries of bluegrass music. Her lifelong dream came true when she was invited to be a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2020 and officially inducted as a member on February 6, 2021.
Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out:
Russell Moore and his band have been making music for more than a quarter of a century. While many bands have come and gone since that May in 1991, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out have endured. In the process, they have managed to climb to the top not just once but twice—winning numerous IBMA vocal awards, including two “Male Vocalist of the Year” honors, in the mid and late 1990s, then persevering through rough times to see Moore recapturing the “Male Vocalist” trophy for three more years. Along the way, they have made a whole new generation of fans, and with the release of “Timeless Hits From The Past… BLUEGRASSED” by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and their latest self-produced album, “It’s About Time,” the quintet is poised to deliver their distinctive kind of music more widely than ever.
IIIrd Tyme Out is hardly a one-man show, even with a frontman as spectacular as Moore. Wayne Benson, joined the band over 20 years ago—just in time for the aptly titled Grandpa’s Mandolin. Benson stayed for nearly a decade before taking a job with the John Cowan Band and returned in 2007. His tasteful, influential approach to the mandolin is a focal point of the group’s instrumental prowess even as he continues contributing to the vocal department. Keith McKinnon, who served memorable stints with his brother Kevin in singer Carrie Hassler’s band and in their own Still-House, holds down the banjo slot. Dustin Pyrtle, a six-year member of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver and a self-proclaimed Russell Moore fan, is the bass player. Nathan Aldridge, the youngest member of the band and formerly with Sideline, is the fiddle player. All men also contribute to the group’s award-winning harmonies.
The Malpass Brothers:
As young boys, Christopher and Taylor Malpass soaked up the music of their granddad’s phonograph records. Christopher earned his first talent show trophy at age 7, and Taylor was playing mandolin by the time he was 10. Today, they promote the work and music of classic country artists they treasure while creating new music and making their own mark in the lineage of a rich American cultural heritage.
Their smooth vocal blend and skillful musicianship layer infectiously into the deep respect they pay to legends who have paved the way. Add the funny, off-the-cuff quips between the two 20-something siblings, and the engaging concert becomes a magnetic time-traveling journey to when a calmer rhythm reigned supreme. The Malpass Brothers toured with the late Don Helms, former steel guitarist for Hank Williams, and have opened for music legend Merle Haggard on multiple tours and appeared on stages from the Shetland Islands to Ryman Auditorium to MerleFest. The brothers have shared billing with artists including Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Doyle Lawson, Rhonda Vincent, Marty Stuart, Doc Watson and more. The title cut video from their “Memory That Bad” album hit CMT Pure Country’s Top Ten. Their self-titled recording, produced by bluegrass legend Doyle Lawson, was released by Crossroads’ Organic Records in 2015.
Sideline:
Sideline was formed in 2012 as a “jam band” for a group of friends that played professionally in other bands. They started playing together as a fun alternative when their bands were not performing. In a short time, they discovered their own identity and style and realized their tour schedule was getting full. They decided to take a leap of faith and commit to the group full-time. The band was named “Sideline” by founding member Darrell Webb because it originated as a “side band.” Sideline has had different configurations over the years, but the three founding members, Steve Dilling, Skip Cherryholmes, and Jason Moore, led the band through it all until Jason’s untimely passing in November of 2021. Steve and Skip decided to continue on with the band in honor of Jason’s commitment to the band and love for the music.
In just under a decade, Sideline has achieved a list of musical accolades. The song “Thunder Dan” not only held the #1 spot on the charts for multiple weeks, but the #1 song for the entire year 2018, it also won the 2019 “Song of the Year” award with the International Bluegrass Music Association. Both in the title and in musical performance, this album reflects the band’s obstacle-ridden journey.
